iPad repair in Ottawa: Kanata, Barrhaven, Nepean and Orleans
Ottawa is one city but it is spread very wide, and that is exactly why a doorstep iPad repair makes sense here. Kanata sits out west past the Greenbelt, Barrhaven is south west, Nepean fills the ground between them, and Orleans is off to the east on the far side of Green's Creek. Taking a cracked iPad to a counter downtown and back means the Queensway twice in one day, plus the wait in between. We drive to the address instead and do the work there: a kitchen table in Bridlewood, a desk in the Kanata North tech park, a townhouse in Half Moon Bay, a bungalow in Orleans.
Students and working parents make up most of the iPad calls in Ottawa. An iPad carrying a full term of lecture notes, PDFs and Apple Pencil annotations is not something a Carleton, uOttawa or Algonquin College student can hand over for a week, and a family iPad that runs the kids' homework and bedtime shows is missed the same day it disappears. Because the repair happens in front of you, the tablet never leaves your table and there is no handover, no ticket number and no second trip to collect it.
Every visit starts the same way across Ottawa: free diagnosis at the door, a clear quote before anything is opened, and no fee at all if the iPad cannot be fixed. Most iPad screen and battery jobs are finished in that single visit, and every repair carries a 30 day warranty.
Kingston and Belleville: tablet repair along the 401
Our base is Brockville, and both Kingston and Belleville sit west of it on the Highway 401 corridor, so both are regular stops rather than special trips. Kingston brings a steady stream of tablet work from the student housing around Queen's, from St Lawrence College on King Street West, and from families out toward Kingston East and Amherstview. Belleville sits further west on the Bay of Quinte, with Loyalist College and the surrounding Quinte West and Prince Edward County households sending the same mix of cracked glass, tired batteries and dead charging ports.
In both cities the searches split between iPad and generic tablet, and we handle both on the same visit. If you are in Kingston with a Samsung Galaxy Tab and your partner has an iPad Air with a swollen battery, that is one appointment, one trip and one quote covering both devices. Bring them both out to the same table.
Nothing about being outside Brockville changes the terms. Free diagnosis wherever we park, a firm quote before any tool touches the tablet, no fix and no fee if it cannot be repaired, and the same 30 day warranty on the work.
What actually goes wrong with an iPad?
iPads come in two display designs, and knowing which one you own decides the whole repair. The standard iPad line keeps the front glass and the touch digitiser as one layer sitting above a separate LCD, so a clean break with a perfect picture underneath can sometimes be fixed by replacing the glass and digitiser alone. The iPad Air 2 was the first iPad with a bonded display, and every iPad Air and iPad Pro since then fuses glass, touch layer and LCD into a single assembly, as do the later iPad mini models. On those, the whole assembly is replaced, because separating the layers is not a repair anyone should attempt on a kitchen table.
Batteries are the second most common call, and they are really a screen job in disguise. The iPad display is glued down all the way around and needs controlled heat and slow, patient lifting to come off without cracking, and the battery underneath is stuck down with wide adhesive pads. That is why an iPad battery takes longer than a phone battery. The signs are familiar: a charge that collapses from most of the way full to nothing, a tablet that runs warm doing very little, or a screen that has started to lift along one edge. That last one is a swelling battery, so stop charging it and call.
Charging ports are the third. Newer iPads use USB-C, starting with the 2018 iPad Pro, the fourth generation iPad Air in 2020, the sixth generation iPad mini in 2021 and the tenth generation standard iPad in 2022, while older models still take Lightning. Either way the port sits under the display, so the screen has to come off to reach it. Often it is not a broken port at all, just pocket lint and dust compacted into the bottom of the socket by months of plugging in, and clearing that out is part of the free diagnosis rather than a repair we charge for.
Why should a cracked iPad screen not be left alone?
An iPad has far more glass surface than a phone, so a crack behaves differently. Spider cracks shed tiny slivers into the palm and fingertips of whoever is holding it, which matters most on the tablets that get handed to children. Tape over the front does not stop that, it just hides where the loose edges are, and it traps the fragments where a swipe will drag them across the panel.
The touch layer also fails progressively rather than all at once. A cracked digitiser starts with a dead stripe or an unresponsive corner, then adds phantom taps that open apps on their own, letters that will not register on the on screen keyboard, and an Apple Pencil that skips, jumps or stops reading pressure properly. Each flex of the panel as you hold the tablet makes it a little worse, so an iPad that is annoying today is genuinely unusable a few weeks later.
There is a practical reason to move quickly too. Once the front glass is broken, the next knock lands on a surface with no structural integrity left, and it usually takes the LCD out with it. That turns a job that might have been a glass and digitiser replacement on a standard iPad into a full display assembly replacement, and it can turn a working tablet into one that shows nothing at all. Getting it looked at while the picture is still perfect keeps the smaller repair on the table.
Android tablets: Samsung Galaxy Tab, Lenovo and the rest
Plenty of people searching for tablet repair are not holding an iPad. Samsung Galaxy Tab S and Tab A models make up most of the Android tablet work across Ottawa, Kingston and Belleville, followed by Lenovo Tab models and the cheap kids' tablets that live in car seats and get stepped on. All of it is repairable at the door: screens, batteries, charging ports and the software problems that come from a tablet nobody has updated in three years.
Android tablets need one extra step that iPads do not. Model numbers matter enormously, because Galaxy Tab screens are usually supplied as a bonded assembly and the panel has to match the exact model printed on the back cover or on the box, not just the marketing name. Have that number ready when you call and the right part comes with the technician on the first visit rather than the second.
Charging ports fail more often on Android tablets than on iPads, mostly because a USB-C cable left plugged in while the tablet is propped on a lap or a bed slowly levers the socket loose. If your tablet only charges when the cable is held at a particular angle, that is the port, and it is a repair worth booking before it stops charging completely.
iPad Repair FAQ
iPad repair Kingston: what should I send before booking?
iPad repair Kingston appointments depend on the exact model and fault. Send the model number, describe whether the picture and touch work, and include your postal code. We confirm parts and a visit to your home or office before travel.
Do you repair iPads at my home in Eastern Ontario?
Yes, we repair all iPad models at your home or office across Eastern Ontario. iPad Standard, Air, and Pro all supported.
How much does iPad screen repair cost?
iPad screen replacement is quoted upfront after a free diagnosis, with no obligation.
How long does iPad screen repair take?
iPad screen repairs typically take 60 to 90 minutes on-site. iPad Pro repairs may take up to 90 minutes due to complexity.
Do you replace iPad batteries?
Yes, iPad battery replacement is quoted upfront after a free diagnosis. Parts and the expected repair time are confirmed for your model.
What warranty do you offer on iPad repairs?
Every iPad repair comes with a 30-day warranty. If the repair fails within 30 days, we return and fix it at no charge.
Do you come to Kanata, Barrhaven, Nepean and Orleans for iPad repair?
Yes. All four are part of Ottawa and all four are on the regular route. We book a time, come to your home or office, diagnose the iPad free, quote before opening anything, and usually finish on the spot. Call or WhatsApp +1 (438) 462-3477 to book a slot.
Can you replace only the cracked glass on an iPad?
Sometimes. On standard iPad models the glass and digitiser sit above a separate LCD, so glass work alone is possible when the picture underneath is still perfect. The iPad Air 2 onward and every iPad Pro use a bonded display, so the full assembly is replaced. We confirm which at the door.
Do you repair Android tablets as well as iPads?
Yes. Samsung Galaxy Tab, Lenovo Tab and most other Android tablets: screens, batteries, charging ports and software issues. Screens are matched to the exact model number printed on the back of the tablet, so having that ready when you call means the right part arrives on the first visit.
My iPad screen is cracked but it still works. Can it wait?
It is better not to wait. Broken glass sheds slivers into your hands, the touch layer keeps degrading into dead spots, phantom taps and skipping Apple Pencil input, and a second drop onto already cracked glass usually takes out the LCD as well, turning a smaller repair into a full display replacement.
How long does an iPad screen repair take at my door?
Most iPad screens are done in one visit at your own table. iPad display adhesive needs controlled heat and slow lifting, so it takes noticeably longer than a phone screen, and iPad Pro assemblies take longest. We give you a realistic time along with the quote, before any work starts.
Do you travel to Kingston and Belleville for tablet repair?
Yes. Both sit west of our Brockville base on the Highway 401 corridor and both are regular stops for iPad and Android tablet work, including student tablets around Queen's, St Lawrence College and Loyalist College. Book by phone or WhatsApp at +1 (438) 462-3477 and we come to the address.
